We know that the ingredients and the sourcing of those ingredients are important to you! They are to us as well! Today we'll be sharing a little bit about the Mica that we use. What is Mica, you might ask? Mica is a naturally occurring mineral dust, and it's often found in various types of makeup. Mica has a natural luster that makes it especially idea for products that shimmer.
We source our raw materials from a few carefully vetted suppliers located within the United States. We are incredibly selective of our suppliers and require written documentation from each that, like us, they do not implement any animal testing in their products, and that the originating countries their materials may be sourced from do not implement animal testing as well.
We do not support child labor. Mica can be produced by child labor, but not always and it does not have to be. This is a topic that we are aware of and we are incredibly selective and have carefully vetted suppliers located within the United States that meet our ethical standards.
We work with sustainable ingredients (some certified like our palm oil), however, when it comes to really locating the originating source of every different type of mica that we work with (we work with dozens currently), we simply don't always have that information available. We do our best, we require that our suppliers do their best, but following the chain all the way back to some of these minerals coming out of the mine -- I'm not sure that any cosmetics brand has all of that information available unfortunately.
The good news is, we're gaining more insight and control every year. Please let us know if you have any other questions at all, we're happy to help!
